   Today I would like to introduce you to the Grandmother Stone, also known as Lepidolite.

   Not what you were expecting from a gemstone with the title Grandmother? You obviously never met my grandmother. Like this stone, she was a regular powerhouse!

   Don’t let Lepidolite’s low Mohs hardness (2.5 to 4) fool you into thinking it’s just another soft stone. Lepidolite is considered to have powerful properties. Also known as the Peace Stone or Stone of Transition, it is believed to promote mental balance, calm anxiety, and protect against negative energies, thus supporting individuals through change and transformation. This range of abilities mirrors Lepidolite’s elastic tenacity, which allows it to return to its original shape rather than breaking.

If that’s not enough, this lilac-gray or rose-colored stone is also associated with the upper chakras including the heart, throat, third eye, and crown, helping to clear blockages and encourage a harmonious flow of energy. It’s not only believed to enhance intuition but is also considered an excellent stone for fostering spiritual awareness and connection to the divine.

   Not just another pretty stone, Lepidolite is a member of the mica mineral group. Its mineralogical name is part of the polylithionite–trilithionite series. (Say that ten times fast!) A lithium-rich mica, Lepidolite is found primarily in granite pegmatites, greisens, and high-temperature quartz veins—most notably in Brazil and the Ural Mountains of Russia. It is an important source of lithium, one of the lightest metals in the world, used in rechargeable batteries, mobile phones, toasters, microwaves, air purifiers, aircraft parts, and also as a well-known mood-stabilizing drug. Talk about versatility!

Typically pink, purple, or lilac, Lepidolite can also be found in yellow, gray, and white.
