You probably don't think much about moss.
You may know that it requires little soil and can thrive on rocks, walls, and even rooftops. But did you know that moss can filter and absorb carbon dioxide at a rate four times higher than that of trees? It's also a natural air conditioner, retaining large amounts of water and cools the air through slow evaporation. This cool plant is both beautiful and versatile, making it a gem of the natural world.
So it should come as no surprise that Moss Agate—the gemstone bearing this fine plant's name—should symbolize steady growth, nature, renewal, and a deep grounding connection to the earth.
On the Mohs scale, moss agate comes in at 6.5-7, which makes it as hard as the standard quartz, but it has a soft spot for healing. With it's grounded strength, it is believed to help steady the spirit, calm a person suffering from emotional burnout, and anchor a high level of spiritual energy into everyday life. Associated with the Heart Chakra, it is used to encourage emotional balance, self-love, patience, and emotional balance.
What's more, this "Gardener's Stone" is known as the stone of agricultural abundance, fertility, and new beginnings that reflect the slow, natural cycle of life. It is often linked in crystal traditions to communicating with Earth energies, nature spirits, and plant devas.
If this wasn't impressive enough, the stone is also associated with success, wealth, manifestation, creativity, optimism, protection, and abundance!
Which doesn't even address it's beautiful green hue!
